Helena Norberg-Hodge has campaigned for decades to challenge the forces of globalisation and develop local economies with ecological diversity and caring relationships. A life’s work was formed out of a trip she made in the 1970s to Ladakh – a remote region on the Tibetan plateau where she discovered the real meaning of riches. She talked to The Mint about the centrality of local food systems in creating a caring economy and the need to understand how damaging globalisation is.
