Michael Jacobs was a special advisor to Gordon Brown when the idea of the Green New Deal (GND) first emerged in the UK in 2008 as a green response to the Crash. He is now, as an academic and activist, closely involved in the re-emergence of the idea in the UK, following its recent success in the US.
The Mint talked to Michael to get his views on why the GND had achieved such a high profile in the US, what we could learn from that and how thinking on the GND was developing in the UK.
