Joris studied economics in Utrecht and Amsterdam in the Netherlands, where he also co-founded Rethinking Economics in the Netherlands. Joris wrote his PhD (cum laude) on urbanisation in West Africa at the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies of the Erasmus University (Rotterdam). He now works at Our New Economy, an independent Dutch think tank working to renew economic thinking in education and policymaking. Together with Sam de Muijnck, he wrote Economy Studies: A Guide to Rethinking Economics Education.
