As the EU starts using a more political lens to analyse its trade relations with China, Chinese companies are still trying to convince Europeans of the benefits of a close partnership. Despite tougher rhetoric and policies, Europeans are – quite literally – buying it.
“We need to work together to support and strengthen the EU-China relationship,” Huawei’s vice president for public affairs in Europe, Wen Han, said at the Europe-China Business summit organised by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce to the EU.
However, the EU has become more hesitant towards intensified business links with China. The reasons are manifold.
