Marco Janssen

Marco is a Professor in the School of Sustainability at Arizona State University, USA. He is also the director of the Center for Behavior, Institutions and the Environment at the same university, and the President of the International Association for the Study of the Commons. His main research interests are the study of conditions for effective self-governance of shared resources using field case study analysis, field and lab experiments and mathematical modeling. His recent research projects include water management in Mexico City; small-scale irrigation communities in India, Thailand, Nepal, China an Colombia, lake governance in Wisconsin; and collaboration with artists to study collective action in extreme resource-scarce conditions.
