John Pye

Born and raised in Bolton, John is 64 and now lives in Manchester. He recently retired after c40 years working in Local Government in the Northwest mostly on Neighbourhood Renewal and Neighbourhood management projects.  He took degree in Economics and Economic History at Liverpool in the early eighties and has been a member of the Chartered Governance Institute since 1990.  

As a committed trade unionist he has been a member of Unison all his working life and latterly active as a rep, convenor, branch chair and treasurer.  He is also Secretary and
Treasurer of Manchester TUC.  

He has a longstanding interest in environmental campaigning which is what led to a rekindled interest in economics and attracted him to an MMT based understanding of the economy which has developed over the last 10 years or so.
